great extent we go for fame

record holder Lee Redmond  with fans .

Khanyi Mbau the socialite ,Kenny Kunene the sushi king
People will go to the greatest extremes for fame ,and the easiest of them all is YouTube all u need is a camera ,a computer and lack of  sense and  you in and millions of people get to know you .People have gone as crazy as falling on their face or even eating a burger from the floor while drunk , lately you require no talent to get noticed .Take Idols for instance there are people that just go knowing that they do not have any talent whatsoever but got just to make it as the worst .Everybody will know you and recognise you on the streets and that's all they want  .Another ridiculous and widely known method is sleeping with someone that's already famous so the fame rubs on to you  ,young girls have degraded themselves all in the name of fame so many times ,some sleep with men older than their fathers if it will get them a step closer to the fame then its a done deal .Ripley's believe it or not is also a show that leave us in huge awe all the times  I remember a woman once grew her nails 35 inches in length which took her thirty years to do for what ? .prof Cary cooper said in his book that most famous people have one thing in common and that is many are not as self confident as we think .people desire fame because they love to be loved but when they get there they come to realise that people just love them for what they have become rather than who they really are which ends up reinforcing their self doubt further more .these people end up getting into drugs and alcohol abuse because of the loneliness they feel when they are not on stage .this all is ignited by the feeling of belonging , we all want to belong to a certain group or community  and be loved ,and some do all it takes to belong .Even if it means doing things that are out of order .This happens allot with school kids ,all of them want to be apart of the " cool squad " and funny enough the cool people are never the nerds of the class that work hard to get their grades nooo its usually the bullies who bunk class ,wear fancy clothes or even take illegal substances at times .and for one to join them there are sacrifices needed which is not really worth it if you think of it ,because most of them never really end up anywhere in life .A very sad reality about life is that it will not wait .rather be well known for doing good than bad ,fame is not all glitz and glam there is allot that is not told about this life that people most desire ,others even go to the extent of selling their souls to the devil .They come to realise its not worth it when things come crumbling down .

The great influence celebrities have on us

Blake Lively looking super fly out in the streets  with her adorable puppy

Miley Cyrus smoking in Toluca lake

was watching gossip girl  the other day and it got me thinking ,i want every clothing  item Serena wears in the episodes , and come to think of it ,not all of her outfits are that nice ,but because she is  famous and celebrities  set  trends for us we follow .huge brands like your VERSACE, GUCCI ,LOUIS VUITTON etc use product placement as a marketing strategy and  a  good way of advertising their products and services .they  invest a lot in celebrities because people simply follow them , they know for sure that if a certain celebrity is wearing their brand in a movie its surely going to create a buzz .that is why fashion designers work so hard to make celebrities clothing for awards ceremonies and prestigious events because it puts their brands in the lime lite  .for instance we know that Simphiwe Tshabalala the famous soccer player is an ambassador for fish and chips and we simply just flock there to try out the food because he eats there and he is famous  .people are interested in celebrities because they are our friends who have everything we want ,well at least we are told  . it worries me alot because the younger generation look up to celebrities ...take Hanna Montana for instance every young girl  wants to be like her  every boy wants her ,they buy her brands and watch her TV shows ,but is she really a good role model ? .it is important to know from a young age that celebrities will not always do what is right yes we can copy their trends but it is important to not loose our ethics and values as people because just because a celebrity does something it doesn't make it right .so go out there be  yourself and be the best version of yourself there will ever be  .individuality and  spontaneity is the new cool  !!!

is zaharas finacial status the publics business ?

I was listening to radio a few days ago where DJ T-BO touch was interviewing Zahara and Thembikosi "TK" Nciza  the co-owner of the record company she is under . that is after the damaging article that came up on sundayworld    on allegations that she is being ripped off by the record company and that she is being treated like their maid  . different people called in and asked all sorts of questions some even made demands .it got me thinking about the expectations we as the public have for celebrities .the life we expect them to live ,the cars they drive ,the houses they live in ,even the people they associate themselves with .we have put so much pressure on them to maintain a certain standard of living forgetting that they are also normal people .  what Zahara does with her money shouldn't be any of the publics business ,ours is to buy her music because it is appealing to us .as Africans we are told that when one gets their first pay you have to take it to your family or give it to your parents .yes that is what we are taught but its the decision of the individual to take and no one else  .we as the public need not to pressurise artists to succumb to the "lifestyle " if  Zahara wants to save her money and not splurge on things she does not need now , we should let her .We have seen many celebrities fall astray because they cannot manage their money properly ,some even have their things repossessed because as soon as money starts coming in they splurge .they start buying expensive cars ,houses and clothing to fit in to the lifestyle of the rich and famous  .once someone decides they want to manage their money properly people complain like they always do .Zahara is a role model especially  to young artists wanting to make it big in the music industry ,she is a true illustration of a responsible celebrity . she has proven to us that she does this because of the love not for the fame and fortune .you do not start with buying a car before getting a licence we need to stop rushing this lady she deserves to do things her own way .so what if she doesn't have a car yet ? ,so what if she doesn't have her own place yet ? .we need to learn how to mind our own business and support our artists  .to read the story visit www.sundayworld.co.za

are regular phones going to be phased out by blackberries ?

I'm constantly put in a very awkward position every time i meet new people because before they even ask for my name they will ask for my bbm pin ,and i will always get the "look " when i tell them i don't own one  .iv realised that people will go ballistic if they loose their blackberries like its the end of the world . most even feel disconnected and lonely . What am i  missing here because i feel like there has to be something to it that i am not taking advantage of , yes its cheap  and has allot of applications and its good for business but i have seen quite allot of better phones with better features than the worshipped berries  .
due to my curiosity i decided to do a little  survey/research to find out from blackberry users and people that use regular phones if  berries are eliminating regular phones ,  and  from what i have heard i notice that  blackberry users just use the phone for any regular phone. Everything is totally stock with not a single app installed. It seems like more people are into the phone rather than the potential of what a blackberry is for .  they will  get it because it just makes you cool to have one .The  ones that do install the apps are usually antisocial at all times  their blackberry is everything  .below are the results on  what people really think .

WHAT THE PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY.....
Ntombi Mduli (business woman)
blackberry is a statement of style and business and once you get one you cannot afford to get another phone .blackberries have the ability of sending mail faster than the capabilities of yahoo, gmail you name it .Technically a Blackberry handset is a personal digital assistant  it is push button service especially for a busy woman like me  its my life .
Michael Zwanze (student )
i love my berry because the Internet service is blazing faster than the other lot and as a student we usually broke so one needs a berry to get by ,you don't need airtime bbm and many other apps do the trick with just sixty rand a month i can connect with the rest of the world .i say its super awesome .
Mariam Moroni (house wife )
i need to be on the loop about what is happening in my children's lives and a blackberry makes it so easy for me .it creates a stronger bond between me and my children  because i can chat to them any time of the day and it is way cheaper than a phone call  .i also love it because it makes me such a cool mom haha!

Maseloane Curtis (communications practitioner )
Majority of Blackberry users experienced loss of service, or partial disruption in service in the first half of October and my nokia has never disappointed me ,i dont need to carry a charger everywhere i go like blackberry users because the  battery life is long .so i doubt these blackberries are gonna take over .
Charmaine Bloomwood (student)
apparently blackberries are no longer gonna be produced so hey ,no phasing out is bound to occur

SAM KHUMALO

As the backdrop of the Johannesburg skyline watched in awe, Sam carved out a place for himself as one of the top skateboarders in the country. Roaming the concrete jungle like a lion on the hunt for its prey, Sam and his group of board buddies explore every pavement, every open rail and every back ally looking for their next adventure. "The art of skateboarding is something so pure, so expressive and so customised to who you are as an individual, no two styles are the same. On any day, whether I am feeling happy or sad, I can go out on my board and show people who I am, and this is what is important to me" explains Sam with a hint of a grin on his face.
We believe in people who believe in themselves, and we believe Sam is only getting started on the canvas of his life

ROZANNE WHYTE

Stories of life are passed down through generations around camp fires, primitive cave drawings or whispered on the winds of time. For Rozanne however, her story is told through the clothes that she creates, as the owner and designer of her own label, each collection is an expression of who she is and how she sees the world at a given time. Her journey began as a young girl when her grandmother gave her her first sewing machine. From that moment on, Rozanne has disappeared into her life long dream of creating original pieces that not only explore her vision of the world, but also inspire others to follow their dreams.
Follow the tale of this unique up-and-coming fashion designer, as she sets about changing the world.
